Biography
Chen Guochan was born in 1963 and is originally from Taishan, Guangdong. A gaohu and erhu performer and educator, he directed a Chinese music academy in Toronto, received prizes in professional performance competitions, and presented multiple solo huqin concerts.
Media coverage in the 1990s identified Chen with the performance and continuation of Guangdong music and gaohu repertoire. He also joined artist delegations organized by China’s Ministry of Culture and performed in several countries.
