Biography
Leung Chun Tung earned a B.Sc. in mathematics and physics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1968, a Certificate in Education with distinction in physics and mathematics from the University of Hong Kong in 1981, and an M.Ed. in management in education there in 1983. At Red River College, he completed a computer analyst/programmer program in 1990 and a vocational-teacher certificate in microcomputer technology in 1999.
From September 1968 to August 1985, he taught physics and mathematics at Ju Ching Chu Secondary School, served as physics panel chair, and was principal of its Tuen Mun school from September 1979 to August 1985. From September 1985 to June 1987, he lectured in physics teaching methods at the University of Hong Kong.
After moving to Winnipeg, he taught physics, mathematics, and science at Grant Park High School from January to July 1989. From October 1992 to June 2004, he taught AP Physics, programming, computer technology, and networking at Sisler and Elmwood schools in the Winnipeg School Division.
At the University of Winnipeg, he taught Pascal, COBOL, introductory computer systems, Unix, telecommunications, networking, and Linux system administration from August 1989 to June 2004. From August 2007 to June 2011, he taught IB Physics at Yew Chung International School in Hong Kong.
His examination work included marking Additional Mathematics for the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination from 1969 to 1975 and serving as a physics examiner from 1980 to 1987. He obtained permanent teacher certification in Manitoba and Hong Kong, as well as Manitoba permanent vocational-teacher certification in microcomputer technology.
