Biography

Wang Wei served as a professor and master’s supervisor at Shanghai Conservatory of Music and a guest professor at Shanghai Theatre Academy. Professional service included membership in the Chinese Musicians Association; vice-presidential work for its Guzheng Association; executive-director and deputy guzheng-committee responsibilities in the China Nationalities Orchestra Society; and director and guzheng-committee president responsibilities in the Shanghai Musicians Association.

Teaching honours included multiple Ministry of Culture Gardener Awards, the Baosteel Education Foundation Outstanding Teacher Award, Shanghai arts-talent recognition for teaching, and Shanghai Conservatory honours associated with the He Luting Foundation and the conservatory administration.

Across more than thirty years of teaching, over fifty of Wang’s students won gold, silver, or bronze awards in national competitions including Shanghai Spring, Wenhua, CCTV, and Golden Bell events. Wang also adjudicated CCTV, Golden Bell, Wenhua, and other major professional competitions.

Orchestral collaborations included the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Macao Chinese Orchestra, Singapore Ding Yi Music Company, Central Opera and Dance Theatre Chinese orchestra, Jiangsu Performing Arts Group, China National Traditional Orchestra, China Radio Film Symphony Orchestra, and Taipei Chinese Orchestra.

Wang presented concerts and master classes across Asia, Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Professional entries appeared in Chinese Musicians Dictionary and related reference lists.
